My wonderful friend Sacha runs a darling store for kids on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. I did a very special, limited edition set of tiny paintings for her. They are available now and will be up for the next few weeks. Stop by and check it out! They are very affordable and a perfect way to kick off spring! Valentine's Baby & Kids is located at 3820 Piedmont Avenue.
PS-This could be the beginning of the children's book I keep talking about writing...
The amazing Mike Garlington!
My darling friend Mike Garlington is one of my favorite artists and collaborators. We fell into deep friendship love many years ago and have been supporting each other's creative adventures ever since. He is building something really magical and BIG this year and I'm super excited for him! You can keep an eye on him here: www.michaelgarlington.com
The funny thing about updating your website...
...is that you uncover all sorts of images that you forgot about. There was an archive of some of the more awesome moments in my life that were unearthed when I took the plunge and redesigned my website after 8 years. I hope to NEVER wait that long again, but it sure did give me a kind of perspective on my life (and how it has developed), and brought me back to all the wonderful times I have had in the Bay Area since moving here over a decade ago.
One of my oldest and dearest friends, Marcus Guillard (www.onehatonehand.com) took these pictures of me when I was in grad school. What I remember most is that I was tired...like super, duper bone tired. I was also really lonely, but at the same time incredibly happy. Marcus has always had a special way of capturing me at my most vulnerable moments, and I cherish him as one of the people that knows me best in this world.
Painting bikes forever!
I LOVE painting bikes and was invited by the SF Day School to paint a beautiful bike for their yearly auction. The bike was donated by Public and it was already super amazing! I just added a few finishing touches!
Sometimes you just have to run away to Slab City...
I just had the most magical 10 days with the talented Elena Stonaker (http://elenastonaker.com/wearables/). We were somewhere on the edge of the abandoned Sulton Sea, just up the road from Slab City. We had no idea what to expect from the experience or from one another. What ended up happening was an unforgettable experience of being, making and caring for one another. We lived in a simple space of constant art making, waking up gently to coffee and painting all day long. It was absolute heaven. As a bonus, we ended up converging with a whole group of incredibly talented women, and together we created a warm and supportive experience where everyone felt free to do and make whatever their hearts desired.
